A Fun+Relaxing Staycation in the Carlsbad Area
Does anyone else like doing a Staycation? Honestly, these are my favorite things because when staying in the local area, I don’t have to worry about flying (which is not my favorite thing to do). When we travel, we usually use VRBO, which is great! I love seeing how people decorate, especially how the kitchen area is set up. But truthfully, my favorite is staying close to home at a hotel. Some of the reasons why include:
Someone cleans up once a day for me
Someone cooks for me (room service)
The simplicity and minimalism of the room is so relaxing
Some rooms have stunning views
They have the best pillows ever!
Ever since watching a friend share her experience at this hotel, I’ve been wanting to try it. So we booked 2 days at Park Hyatt Aviara Resort. The hotel was bright, which I love – I’m more of a light color earth-tone decorator. The staff were so friendly, and immediately upon arriving we were upgraded to a suite, which was a nice surprise! We walked into a clean, modern style of decor. Our suite had two patios that overlooked a beautiful golf course. It was spacious, with a living room that was more than we needed. We had planned on trying all the restaurants friends had told us about in the area. But first, we decided to try the hotel restaurant, and from the first bite, we ended up having all our meals there for the remainder of our stay!
The food was divine!! There were empanadas, salads, lobster tacos, potatoes, steak, shrimp cocktails, and all of it was so incredible… I can go on and on about how flavorful every dish was. But one of our favorites was the melt in your mouth felt like cotton candy Churros!! Oh my goodness, I want to go back! We learned that the Chef lives in Tijuana and comes down to cook throughout the week. And we happened to be staying the days he was cooking at the restaurant!! We were extremely blessed. I mean, our stomachs were extremely happy, ha!
I’m sure the other restaurants we were referred to by our friends are amazing. But when you taste great food, you can’t help but want to go back and try some more!! In fact, we only left the resort once. We found an outdoor mall where we enjoyed browsing all the shops and ended up buying some sunglasses and scoring a huge sale on my favorite cooking pots. I found salt & pepper shakers and a skillet grill and was excited to add them to my kitchen collection! We really did spoil ourselves! My hubby booked a massage while I had a facial. Before our appointments, we were led to a beautiful outdoor garden area as we waited for our treatments. We lounged with our cucumber water and laughed at ourselves in our white robes and squishy slippers they gave us. We both left so relaxed and had a restful night’s sleep after being so pampered. I needed this relaxation so much! True relaxation is a huge part of getting healthy. Rest helps restore.
We enjoyed walking the grounds, the beautiful suite, and the delicious food! It was such a great staycation, and we would honestly take the drive just to go have dinner at the restaurant again. I know my hubby would want to go again, and I wouldn’t mind either. I could book another amazing facial while he’s at the golf course! Sometimes some of the most beautiful places really are close to home. Whether you’re looking for a fun way to spend time with your family or just need a break from the everyday grind, a staycation is the perfect solution. With plenty of activities and attractions available in every city, there’s no reason not to take advantage of all that your state has to offer. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and explore! Have you ever tried a staycation? What was your favorite part?
